Spiritual Warfare

After 9/11, few are left that deny the presence of evil in this world. The Bible talks about an evil kingdom ruled by Satan. How does this relate to our personal lives and relationships?

In this seminar we explore what the Bible reveals in order to have a balanced view of good and evil. We also discuss how to defend ourselves so that we can get the victory in this battle.

Misconceptions about Satan’s power

Is he responsible for all disease? (Genesis 3:17-19)

Is he responsible for natural disasters? (Psalm 29)

Is he responsible for generational curses? (Exodus 20:5-6)

Satan’s Bio

1. You were anointed as a guardian cherub (Ezekiel 28:14).

2. How you have fallen from heaven, O Star of the Morning (Lucifer), Son of the Dawn! (Isaiah 14:12)

3. You were internally filled with violence and you sinned (Ezekiel 28:16).

4. Satan was joined by countless other fallen angels, now called demons (demigods), who serve under him (Matthew 9:34; Revelation 12:7-9).

5. Satan will be defeated by God and thrown into the lake of fire, prepared for him and his angels (Revelation 20:10).

6. At present he wages a war to oppose and defeat God and His plans for man’s salvation. He does this in two ways:

  • Blinding the eyes of unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4
  • Attacking believers in efforts to neutralize or destroy them.

Satan is not man’s #1 enemy!

The order is:

  1. Sin
  2. Self
  3. Satan

Why would God allow Satan to exist and operate?

1. The presence of Satan affords a clear choice as in an opposition party of a democratic state. Colossians 1:13

2. God uses the trials of life, including spiritual warfare, to test and perfect our faith. 2 Corinthians 12:7-10; 1 Corinthians 5:1-5; Matthew 4:1.

What about demon possession?

1. The word ‘demon possessed’ is an unfortunate English translation for the word daimonizomenoi, which literally means ‘demonized’.

2. Christians cannot be possessed by Satan in the sense of ownership, but they can be controlled even to the point of losing their will to resist (2 Timothy 2:26)

Where do demons live?

1. Demons inhabit earthly and heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12, Job 1:7)

2. Demons desire to live in human beings (Luke 11:14, 26)

3. Demons claim territories, houses, lands, etc. (Daniel 10:13)

What about deliverance?

1. There are some who have a ministry of casting demons out of Christians.

2. The Bible teaches us to encourage and strengthen believers in their faith so that they will be able to resist the devil themselves (Ephesians 6:10-18, James 4:7)

How to overcome the Devil

(Revelation 12:11)

  1. The blood of the Lamb
  2. The word of their testimony
  3. Willingness to die for Jesus

Where are you in this spiritual battle? Are you . . .

  1. In the opposing camp?
  2. A casualty of the battle?
  3. An over comer?
